Columbia College
Student Council
Class of 2018
![]() President: Ezra GontownkMeet Ezra. As the youngest of 6 boys, Ezra has always had to speak up for himself. Having served on student government, led a service group for disabled teens and captained both the soccer and hockey teams, Ezra Gontownik is no stranger to leadership and dedication. He looks forward to using the same leadership, passion and overt friendliness he exercised in high school to lead and, most importantly, represent you, the students of Columbia College Class of 2018. | ![]() Vice President: Lani AllenMeet Lani. Spunky, friendly, and always looking to meet new people, Lani’s main goal as Vice President will be to not only serve as your leader, but also as your confidante and ever-optimistic friend. In her spare time you could find Lani playing Viola, swimming, or painting. With an array of interests, Lani looks forward to representing all facets of Columbia University and bringing each one of together to help create an exciting and engaging college experience. | ![]() Representative: Millie YangMeet Millie: Time Magazine’s 2006 Person of the Year. Born in New York, and raised in both Hong Kong and London, Millie embraces her multicultural identity as a means of understanding different people. As a meditator and photographer, Millie acknowledges the importance of reflection and introspection. As a House Captain, Team Captain, and prefect, Millie’s heavy involvement in high school leadership mirrors her dedication to contributing to the Columbia community. She cannot wait to serve you. |

![]() Representative: Nicole AllicockMeet Nicole. Coming from the political capital of America and with three younger siblings at home, Nicole Allicock has always been leader. While peer tutoring, mentoring, and tour guiding committed her to those around her and rooted her in the community, serving on her Student Council gave Nicole the tools to be the voice of change within it. Outgoing and personable, Nicole will make it her mission to get to know and represent the class of 2018! | ![]() Representative: Kaz CostelloMeet Kaz, a man with an immaculate taste in food and somewhat futile dedication to learning American sports. As an affable half-Japanese and half-Australian chap, Kaz has always been open to understanding all backgrounds and hearing everyone's story. Up until now, Kaz has been a dedicated musician and leader in roles such as concertmaster of his school's symphony orchestra and founder of a music society. He now wants to use the skills and experiences to serve the Columbia Class of 2018. |
ABOUT TRUE BLUE
Meet True Blue.
True Blue is a council committed to you. We are here to serve as a voice for your concerns and a springboard for your ideas. We want to hear what it means for you to have a special college experience. While we have many events planned for the upcoming year, we look forward to bringing your ideas to a reality. We want to give you as much power as possible in shaping your time here at Columbia.
Columbia is a school full of talented people; we are intellectuals, athletes, musicians, artists—the list goes on. As a team focused on bringing our class together by strengthening our community, we want to ensure that every one of you has an opportunity to meet the mixture of people that makes up the Class of 2018. NSOP was a wonderful opportunity to meet one another, but we recognize that it did not allow for you to meet as many people as you might have liked. We hope to host events like “speed meeting” for you to meet the fellow peers, as well as other events to bring our class together in a casual way.
Not only does Columbia offer a wealth of interesting people and excellent opportunities, but it is also situated in one of the best cities in the world. So many of us chose Columbia in large part because of its location and the experiences associated with living in New York City. But have you explored it yet in the ways you imagined? Take trips to Broadway shows, visit the MoMA, go to concerts, and skate at Rockefeller Center! We want to make these things more accessible; not only will you be sharing these memories with diverse people, but you won’t have to think of planning the next trip… check off that bucket list and feel free to add to it as you think of fun ideas.
The Columbia Class of 2018 consists of future world famous artists, authors, and Nobel prizewinners. Don’t you want to meet them? Wouldn’t it be cool to call them your best friends for the rest of your life? Together we will create the positive atmosphere and fun lifestyle that will allow us to bond as a class. True Blue is here to build a thriving and safe community, and we look forward to doing it together.
